A Letter to Parents

OA_PublicationsRibbon_StandardHi Parents,

Congratulations on your Scout’s membership in the Order of the Arrow (OA)!  His/her election shows that the other members of their Scout unit felt they’ve exhibited Scouting’s principles and would give cheerful service to others.  As you may know, most of the OA events in which your Arrowman will participate will take place locally with the OA lodge. Once each year, the ten lodges spread across all of South Carolina and parts of North Carolina and Georgia (called a “section” or “Section E7”) gather at a Scout Camp for a fun-filled weekend called “Cornerstone Conclave”.

The E7 Cornerstone Conclave will be held the weekend of April 21-23, 2023 at Camp Ho Non Wah in Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina and is expected to be attended by nearly 1,000 Arrowmen from across the three states.

If your Arrowman has expressed an interest in attending the Section Conclave, please consider allowing them to attend.  Conclave is the premier event for both youth and adults and one of the highlights of the OA year!  This fellowship weekend is full of activities and experiences designed to take Scouting to the next level for your Arrowman.

During the weekend, they will experience specialized leadership training in addition to numerous other topics such as camping, delve into the American Indian culture, have the opportunity to participate in friendly competitions, and most of all, have a ton of fun!

As you can see, the conclave experience will be an action-packed and fulfilling event, just like it has been for the past 75 years.  Your Scout is sure to have a fantastic weekend and grow as an individual and leader.  They will have the chance to make new friends from across the states of SC, NC, and GA, and make memories that will last a lifetime.  We truly hope you will consider permitting your son or daughter to enjoy the Section Conclave experience in 2023.  If you have any further questions about the event, be sure to reach out to your lodge leadership or feel free to contact a Section Officer or Adviser directly.

Sincerely,

Andrew Adler
